Prime Video Watch PartyComing Soon

Watch Prime Video Together with Your Partner

Prime Video support is in the final stretch — join the waitlist and we'll email you the day it's live. When it ships, SyncCouch will handle Prime Video's trickiest quirks: the multi-element player that swaps between ads and content, X-Ray overlays that can confuse simpler sync tools, and the way Prime's web player re-initializes when you open trivia cards. Like our Netflix and YouTube support, it'll be a free Chrome extension with playback sync, integrated video chat, voice chat, emoji reactions, and AI show recommendations filtered by Prime Video's actual Indian catalog. Both partners stream directly from their own Prime accounts — nothing is shared, mirrored, or re-encoded.

Why use SyncCouch for Prime Video?

Platform-specific features that make your watch party seamless.

Ad Break Handling

SyncCouch pauses sync during pre-roll and mid-roll ads and resumes automatically when the main content player returns — ads don't throw off your viewing.

Multi-Element Detection

Prime Video uses separate video elements for ads, trailers, and content. SyncCouch identifies the active player and tracks transitions seamlessly.

X-Ray Compatible

The X-Ray overlay showing cast, trivia, and music doesn't interfere with sync. SyncCouch distinguishes UI pauses from real playback pauses.

AI Show Recommendations

Describe your mood together and get Prime Video suggestions powered by AI, filtered by what's actually available on Prime Video in your region.

Why Prime Video is technically harder to sync

Prime Video is the most architecturally complex of the major streamers, which is why generic watch-party tools often glitch on it. The web player uses separate HTML5 video elements for pre-roll ads, mid-roll ads (on the ad-supported tier), the main feature, and trailer previews — and Prime swaps between them without a page reload. A sync tool that only listens to the first video element it finds will lose its target the moment an ad finishes. SyncCouch's Prime adapter tracks which element is currently the 'active' playback surface and re-binds automatically when Prime swaps it. X-Ray, the overlay that shows cast and trivia, pauses the main video on tap — SyncCouch distinguishes between a user-initiated pause (which should sync) and an X-Ray pause (which shouldn't), so opening cast info doesn't stop your partner's playback. Two other Prime-specific notes: the 'Up Next' auto-advance between episodes works the same way as Netflix's — enable it for both or neither. And Prime Video's regional catalogs differ substantially between India, the US, and Europe, so if you and your partner are in different countries, some titles may simply not be available to one of you.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Prime Video support launching?

Prime Video support is in final testing and will launch shortly after the initial Netflix + YouTube + Crunchyroll release. Join the waitlist on this page and we'll email you the day it's available — no spam, one email.

How will SyncCouch sync Prime Video?

SyncCouch will use a Chrome extension that detects the active Prime Video player and syncs play, pause, and seek actions with your partner in real time. It handles Prime's unique multi-element player architecture by rebinding whenever Prime swaps the active video element.

Do both people need a Prime Video subscription?

Yes. Both you and your partner need your own Amazon Prime or standalone Prime Video subscription. SyncCouch syncs playback — it does not share or stream video content between accounts.

What happens during ads on Prime Video?

SyncCouch will detect when ads are playing and pause sync automatically. Once the actual content resumes, sync re-engages seamlessly. Both of you see your own ads based on your own Prime ad settings, but the main content stays perfectly aligned.

Does the X-Ray feature break sync?

No. SyncCouch only reacts to real playback events (play, pause, seek), not UI overlays like X-Ray, Up Next, or the chapter menu. You can browse cast info, check what song is playing, or skim trivia without affecting sync.

Will SyncCouch work with Prime Video on MX Player in India?

SyncCouch targets the primevideo.com web player, not third-party players like MX Player that bundle Prime content. Both partners should watch on the Prime Video website (or the Amazon.in Prime Video section) for sync to work.

Can we watch Prime Video rentals and purchases together?

Yes, once Prime Video support launches, SyncCouch will work with included-with-Prime titles, Prime Video Channels subscriptions (like Hotstar on Prime in some regions), and individually rented or purchased content. Each of you needs to own or have access to the title.

What about Prime Video regional catalog differences?

Prime Video's catalog varies by country — a film available in India may not be available in the US or UK, and vice versa. SyncCouch can only sync playback, not licensing. Check that both partners have the title available in their region before starting a room.

Does Prime Video's Up Next auto-advance break sync?

SyncCouch will handle episode transitions when Up Next fires for both partners simultaneously. For best results, enable or disable Up Next for both partners — mismatched settings can cause one person to auto-advance while the other doesn't.

Is SyncCouch free?

SyncCouch is free to use. Playback sync, text chat, voice chat, emoji reactions, and AI recommendations are all free. Video chat has a free tier of 30 minutes per week — enough for a weekend movie night — with paid upgrades coming later.

Does it work on Edge or Brave?

Yes. SyncCouch works on any Chromium-based browser including Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, and Vivaldi (version 116+). Firefox is not currently supported because SyncCouch uses Chrome extension APIs that Firefox implements differently — a Firefox build is on the roadmap.
